| 6/5/1984 | Operation 'Blue Star' was launched by Indira Gandhi. Indian commandos stormed into Sikh's holiest gurudwara Golden Temple in Amritsar to flush out the terrorists and other anti-government elements. Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and over 325 people were killed in the temple. Thus a great rebel arose all over the nation and specially in Punjab. |

| 6/8/1998 | A Disaster Management Cell (DMC) under the direct command of the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, South Western Air Command, was set up at the Command Operations Room to liaise with the State Government and initiate necessary actions. All aircrafts were evacuated from IAF bases at Jamnagar, Bhuj and Naliya and flown to pre-determined destinations. In this meticulously planned and smoothly executed drill, more than 60 aircrafts (including helicopters) were flown out. |
