2/13/1879Sarojini Naidu ""Nightingale of India"", was born at Hyderabad. She was the first Governor of Uttar Pradesh. She also holds a place of pride among the women freedom fighters of India. She presided over the Kanpur session of Indian National Congress and took active part in Salt Satyagraha and represented Indian women in Round Table Conference, London, 1931.

1/15/1998Binda Prasad Kashyap, 73, CPI leader, passed away in Nagpur.
2/15/1936Nabin Chandra Bardoloi, freedom fighter, passed away. He was known for his patriotism and zeal for constructive work and was a forceful and emotional orator and debater and an eminent writer in Assamese litrature. He was also a musician and composed good number of patriotic poems and songs.
11/15/1991Insurance official Dr. S.L. Khosa freed in Kashmir in exchange for a militant.
12/22/1939When Britain declared war against the Germans it appealed for help from all political parties. Congress put up some conditions which in other words were the immediate transfer of power. The Viceroy promised to give due consideration to the suggestions of each party and that the dominion status would be given after the war. Congress in order to pressurize the Govt. boycotted all ministries and started a civil disobedience movement and eventually resigned. Jinnah declared 22nd Dec 1939 as ""Day of Deliveranc
